Profile
Sue Rogerson, managing director and designer, was brought up in Keighley West Yorkshire and educated at St. Mary's prep school and St. Monica’s Convent boarding school in Skipton, she then went onto train at Bradford Regional College of Art from 1965-1969. After the four year course Sue graduated in Fashion Design and moved to live and work in London’s fashion industry.
Working in the industry in most aspects of high st women’s and young fashion design including leather wear for both the home and export market, it wasn’t long before she had achieved the position of Head Designer with a full complement of sample room staff and designers and after a couple more years also took on the position of Head of Production and Home Sales.
After sixteen years Sue left the fashion Industry to start her own business in Interior Design. In the mid 1980’s as well as interior design and project management Sue with her team of artists specialised in special finishes, hand painted furniture, murals, restorations and bespoke commissions working at the high-end of the market. She has been commissioned by many of the well known, and has enjoyed designing in houses in Bishop’s Avenue Hampstead, Belgravia, Park Lane, Chelsea, Sloane Square, Wimbledon, Weybridge, Esher, Newbury, the south of England and the Isle of Wight.
One of the most memorable projects was in the late 1980’s when Sue was commissioned to interior design and restore a large Georgian country house in Newbury, an enormous amount of research was carried out, casts were taken of the few remaining cornices, ceiling roses, panels and all wood work, doors, architraves skirtings and shutters were also restored and after many months with a team of gifted artists, craftsmen and women the imposing house was returned to it’s former glory.
Special finishes were used throughout the house including a mural depicting the views from the house and another mural in the swimming pool area. Furniture, soft furnishings and even carpets were designed by Sue who commissioned manufacturers and cabinet makers to carry out her designs.
An usual commission in the early 90’s was to stencil the whole of a church ceiling near Haslemere to the original Arts and Crafts design. It took 4 weeks for Sue and one of her team to complete!
Sue moved from Teddington to the Isle of Wight in 1991 to bring up her Son Ben who was then 6 years old. After years of sailing in the Solent Cowes was her natural choice which also still allowed easy access to clients in London and the South East. Sue opened a successful Interior design shop surviving the recession years. After 5 years of running the interior design shop Sue returned to working from an office in Cowes, taking on and very much enjoying Show Home projects in the new build housing industry, she also had her own small property development projects, buying and restoring and converting, letting and re-selling. Her bespoke work has continued throughout.
With forty years of design and management experience Sue is still very happy to take on new and exciting projects both in the private and Show Home market.
